Description
Community Action Research & Seminars (CARAS) was planned as a series of 24 2-hour seminars (Nov 1976 to Jun 1977) based on topic papers related to the Strategic Development of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Its members were representatives from the Local Authority and other statutory bodies (ILEA, the police, hospital groups etc.), members of community groups, and agencies such as trade unions and members of the general public. CARAS was designed jointly by Oxford House and the Roehampton Institute of Higher Education. This report re-appraising the project was written by David Clarke, then Head of Oxford House.
