Description
In response to Second World War bombing in London in September 1940, Oxford House established 'Country Schools' in Plas Dolanog, Welshpool and Brampton Bryan Hall, Herefordshire, to house evacuees and their parents. Children from Bethnal Green were selected to stay at the Schools based on need, and the Schools were used as an educational experiment. This binder of photographs and a press cutting was collected and annotated by staff at the Schools. Many images were reproduced in a publication titled 'Citizens in Readiness', which is available to view on-site at Oxford House.
